Let me begin by telling you how i came to meet Kelly (aka “The Cleaver) and Claire (aka “Intensive Claire). I was lucky to meet both these very special women in my past life as a roller derby girl with the Canberra Roller Derby League. I was also known as “Posie La Threat”. I joined the league at the same time as Kelly…we trained together, she taught me to take hard hits, we were drafted to the same team, “The Black and Blue Belles”…where our team won the Grand Final at the end of 2010, and then we celebrated together (oh and we karaoke together- she sang and i screeched). I was then fortunate enough to still be in the league when Kelly and Claire became engaged, their derby family were thrilled. After retiring from roller derby at the end of 2010, i was contacted by Kelly and Claire asking me if i would be happy to photograph their wedding – as if i was going to say anything but YES!
This was my first time photographing a civil union ceremony and it definitely won’t be my last. I was so grateful to have been part of their special day…it was such an emotional day filled with so much love…I was misty eyed for the entire day! Some of the special and unforgettable moments were their “first look” in their home that they bought and renovated together, Kelly crying with happiness, their beautiful vows at the ceremony, Kelly crying with happiness, the love, emotion and affection during ever moment of the day, Kelly crying with happiness, the happiness and emotion of Kelly’s father in delivering his speech, Kelly crying with happiness, their first dance and last but not least, Kelly crying with happiness.
Kelly, Claire thank you for choosing me as your photographer. I will never forget your special day…I wish you both an amazing honeymoon in Vietnam and a lifetime of happiness together. xxx
